The Challenge

Greenfield Consulting had been using a premium WordPress theme that cost $79 and looked like it. The site was visually generic — the same layout and stock photography as dozens of other consulting firms using the same theme. Page load times averaged 4.3 seconds. Their Google PageSpeed Performance score was 41, with Accessibility at 67 — the theme's decorative elements lacked alt text, heading hierarchy was broken, and color contrast failed on multiple sections. The bounce rate was 58%. More critically, the site was not generating business. Greenfield's partners were embarrassed to include the URL in proposals and pitch decks. For a firm that charges premium rates to advise Fortune 500 companies on operational transformation, their website looked like it was built over a weekend. The WordPress admin panel was a graveyard of unused plugins, and the theme had not received an update in 14 months.

Our Solution

We designed a light, warm, and deliberately minimal site that feels like walking into a well-appointed office. Playfair Display serif headings paired with Inter body text create an editorial quality that no WordPress theme can replicate. The sage green accent and warm neutral palette convey calm expertise. We stripped the page count to six focused pages — Home, Services, About, Insights, Contact, and a featured Case Study — because consulting firms do not need twelve pages of filler. Every section is designed to build credibility: client testimonials with real names, a detailed case study with measurable outcomes, and team bios that communicate depth. The site is fully static, loads from a CDN, and uses zero client-side JavaScript frameworks. Semantic HTML and proper ARIA labeling pushed Accessibility to a perfect score.

Results

PageSpeed jumped from 41 to 100 across all four categories — Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices, and SEO all hit perfect scores. Load time dropped from 4.3 seconds to 0.4 seconds. The bounce rate fell from 58% to 29%, a 50% improvement, as visitors engaged with the case study and service content. Client inquiries through the contact form increased 67% in the first quarter. But the real impact was qualitative: Greenfield's partners now actively share the URL in proposals, pitch decks, and LinkedIn profiles. The managing partner reported that two new clients specifically mentioned the website as a factor in their decision to engage. The site went from a liability they avoided mentioning to a competitive advantage they lead with.
